City of Monterey Park Sued for Violating California Labor Law

BusCity Officials Failed to Follow the Law When It Came to Public Transit Bid, Suit Says

The City of Monterey Park’s new Spirit Bus service operator, First Transit, was awarded a contract through an illegal bidding process. Specifically, Monterey Park and First Transit violated California Labor Code Section 1072, which requires bidders to declare whether or not they intend to keep the current workforce for at least 90 days, and requires the awarding agency (the City of Monterey Park) to give a 10% preference to those who declare that they will keep the current workforce for at least 90 days.
