Information You Provide

Our forms collect the information needed for the request you choose. The membership application requests your name, contact and mailing details, full Social Security number, birth date, employment and wage information, beneficiary details, authorizations, and signature. Applications and related authorization PDFs contain sensitive information and are stored for office processing; they are not public website content. The address update form requests your name, last four Social Security digits, mailing address, phone number, email address, and company.

Event-space inquiries collect contact information and event details. Staff request forms collect contact details, instructions, dates, approvals, and any text, photos, or files submitted for review. News, notices, event announcements, and retiree tributes may be published after review, including the information and images approved for publication. Please provide only information relevant to your request and obtain permission before submitting another person’s photo or information for publication.

Form records also include technical details such as the submission time, source page, IP address, browser, device/platform, and country information when available. A signed-in submission may be associated with the user’s account. Hosting and security services may process IP addresses, requested URLs, and technical logs to deliver and protect the website.

How We Use And Share Information

We use submitted information to process membership applications, administer dues and payroll authorizations, record beneficiary designations, update member contact details, respond to inquiries, coordinate venue requests, and review or publish requested website content. We do not sell or rent membership application information for marketing.

Website administrators and the office personnel responsible for a request handle its information. Submissions may be stored in the website, included in office email notifications or generated PDFs, and used in related administrative workflows. Staff request alerts may also be sent through a messaging service. Service providers support hosting, security, form processing, email delivery, and website administration. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights and security.

Storage, Security And Retention

The website uses HTTPS to protect information in transit, and website administration requires authorized access. No online system or ordinary email service can guarantee complete security. Do not send a full Social Security number or signature image in an ordinary email inquiry. Records, uploaded files, generated documents, email copies, logs, and backups may have different retention periods. Information is retained for the relevant membership or request purpose, recordkeeping, security, and applicable legal obligations. Contact the office about a record or retention question; deleting a website entry does not necessarily remove copies already held in office records, email, or backups.

Cookies And Website Analytics

Website login, security, spam prevention, and other essential functions may use cookies or similar technologies. Some cookies may persist after a browser session. Forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help detect automated abuse; this service processes browser and network signals. Blocking essential cookies or scripts may prevent sign-in or form submission. Optional analytics and external maps/media stay off until you accept them. Use the “Privacy choices” button to accept, reject, or change these categories at any time. We remember the choice in this browser’s local storage for up to six months; it is separate from your form submissions.

We use Rybbit for cookieless audience measurement on selected public pages. It measures page visits, referral sources, approximate location, browser/device information, outbound link clicks, and page performance. Rybbit processes the visitor’s IP address and browser information to derive a daily rotating identifier; its separate IP-address storage is disabled. URL query parameters, fragments, and automatic form-interaction capture are disabled. The website excludes signed-in users, administrative and staff areas, membership and confirmation routes, and pages containing its form embeds from this analytics script. Form records and security logs are separate from this analytics configuration.

Maps, Media And External Websites

The event-space page includes a Google Maps embed. Loading an embedded map or other third-party content sends technical information, including your IP address and browser information, to that provider, which may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy. Media players, social links, the shop, and other external links may take you to separate services with their own privacy practices. A link alone does not mean that the external service loads before you follow it. See Google’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy for those services.

Text Messages

Providing a phone number for a membership application or office request does not by itself enroll you in optional text-message updates. Optional union text communications require a separate sign-up. If you receive such messages, use the unsubscribe instructions provided or contact the office to withdraw your choice. Be cautious with unexpected messages asking for sensitive information.

Your Choices And Policy Updates

For questions or requests to access, correct, or delete information, contact the Local 848 office. We may need to verify your identity, and some records may need to be retained for membership administration or legal obligations. Rights depend on the law that applies to your circumstances. The website is not directed to children under 13; contact the office if you believe a child has provided personal information. We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
